A devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake has hit Haiti, including the densely populated capital Port-Au-Prince and the surrounding area. Although there is as yet no accurate assessment of the death toll it is clear that millions of people live in the affected area. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere, greatly increasing the risk that people will suffer or die in the aftermath of a natural disaster.

Communications have been severely disrupted and many roads are blocked with rubble. Despite the challenges, many DEC member agencies are already helping on the ground while others are preparing to do so. Very substantial humanitarian assistance will be required to ensure survivors get food, clean water, emergency shelter, medical care and other support.

The donation line is 0370 60 60 900

The DEC is an umbrella organisation which represents 13 leading UK aid agencies. Its members are: ActionAid, British Red Cross, CAFOD, CARE International UK, Christian Aid, Concern, Help the Aged, Islamic Relief, Merlin, Oxfam, Save the Children

THE DUBLIN AFRO-CUBAN SALSA CONGRESS 2010

PROVIDING AID TO HAITI DISASTER
Media coverage has recently shown the chaos, loss of life and destruction caused by the Haitian disaster. Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world and as such is in need of helping hands from across the world.

The founders and organizers of the Afro-Cuban Salsa Congress 2010 have decided to use their event to help and support all Haitian victims suffering as a result of this occurrence.

The Afro-Cuban Salsa Congress on 11th – 13th June 2010 has now been converted into a not for profit event, meaning that all funds collected for this year Congress will go directly to attend to the needs of all Haitians recently affected.

Please you can still donate money in our online payment, even you can’t attend the Congress Fund Raiser Celebration in Dublin on 11th – 13th June 2010
